Stephen Foster 1826-1864: Stephen Foster has been described as the 'father of American music' and 'the most famous songwriter of the 19th century', known primarily for his parlor and minstrel music. Many of his 200 songs still remain popular, 150 years after he wrote them, probably the most famous being Oh Susanna; Hard Times Come Again No More; Camptown Races; Old Folks at Home; Beautiful Dreamer; Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair; My Old Kentucky Home; all of which are included in this CD.
